GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This year, Marine Aviation is proud
to observe the 80th Anniversary of the Marine Air Command
and Control System (MACCS).
2. In 1943 the Service activated the first cadre of
purpose-built air command and control units for service
in World War II. For 80 years since, the MACCS executed
integrated, multi-domain combined arms operations through
air support control, air defense control, ground based
air defense, air surveillance, communications, and air
traffic control across the range of military operations
and in every clime and place. Our MACCS Marines,
globally recognized as the model military command and
control formations, consistently deliver disproportional
effects in support of our MAGTFs, the Joint Force, Allies
and Partners.
3. As we honor the past, today’s Marine Air Control
Groups (MACGs) are pioneering new and innovative concepts
to execute multi-domain killwebs during expeditionary
advance base operations. Through new partnerships with
MEF Information Groups, Marine Wing Support Squadrons,
and Joint / Combined partners, today’s MACGs are creating
a new ecosystem that will ensure our Marine Corps will
thrive in contested operating environments for another 80
years.
4. Please join me in wishing a Happy 80th to the humble,
often-unheralded MACG professionals whose tireless
innovations deliver integrated lethality and enable
decisive action. Speaking on behalf of all Marines, past
and present, THANK YOU and Happy 80th!
5. Release authorized by LtGen M. S. Cederholm,
